Frequently Asked Questions

What would be the shortest and the longest stay for an intern joining your company?

We accept interns from 1 week up to 1 year. Applicants get quickly familiar with the business as well as with their new colleagues and our unique atmosphere. Our experience shows that due to our intensive training, interns usually manage to adapt to their new environment efficiently and very quickly.

Which steps should I follow to apply for an internship?

Carefully read our internship offers and try to find out which field of activity will meet both your interests and expectations for your future career ambitions.
You could also speak to a former intern from your University who worked with us or simply give us a call to get more information about our training programmes. If you then decide, that dutch-internship.com is the company for you to do an internship in, please fill in our application form (you can find it in the upper left corner of this website). After the form has been completed, our internship team will consider your application and contact you via email.

Do I need any special certificates to apply for an internship?

No specific certificates are required for an internship application. Most certificate documents are written in your mother tongue, and it is therefore difficult for us to check their authenticity. The online application form will give us a basic idea about you, thus revealing if your profile will suite our needs. Solely based on the application form, we then invite applicants for an interview.

Do I need special qualifications for doing an internship with "Dutch Internship"?

We highly appreciate prior experience in the field you are applying for and we will ask you more about it during the interview.
The IT department can also offer assistance concerning the type of internship you would be suited for if you are not sure in which department to apply. (Please feel free to contact us by using the contact form)
Of course, we will also provide training during your first weeks on the systems we use, so don't worry, you do not need to be specialized in all fields.

When are students informed of their acceptance?

We process all completed application forms as soon as possible. After reading and studying the application carefully we decide whether we should invite you for a phone interview. During this interview you will be talking to at least 2 members of our team, who will focus on different points. After the interviews the team will discuss your application and interviews before suggesting your acceptance or denial to Management. The final decision regarding your acceptance is up to the CEO only.

Is it necessary to join a language course before starting the internship?

As our office language is English and Dutch only, you should have a sufficient English level to communicate with your colleagues and customers. Therefore the telephone interview is also an opportunity for us to assess your level of spoken English and decide if it is acceptable for the company's activity.
Nevertheless you can expect your language skills to improve tremendously during your stay, thanks to a daily use of spoken and written English and Dutch. And why not learn a few words in a new language with your new colleagues and friends from our European Multicultural Team!

Do I need a work permit?

Citizens from the European Union do not need a work permit. If you are a Non-European citizen you are nevertheless welcome to join us! However as we are unable to provide work permits for our applicants, please do not apply without a valid EU work permit which allows you to work full time (40 hours per week). (We reserve the right to ask for a copy of your work permit before we can process your application.)

What facilities are provided during my internship?

You will be provided with your own computer (during office hours), no overtime working, free tea and coffee all day, free lunch during office hours and accommodation (the price of accommodation depends on the length of your stay, please feel free to contact us for more details).
Furthermore Management rewards interns who extend their contract to over 6 months or reach certain goals within our bonus programme.

I need to present a project to my university after finishing my internship in order to pass my exam. Is it possible to work on a project during my internship?

Every department works on various projects, so you will be assigned with tasks related to your skills. Please feel free to ask to work on something different if a task seems too difficult for you or you find another project more appealing. We will do our best to provide you with everything that is necessary for your school or university.

Do I really need a passport?

If you are an EU citizen, you can travel to The Netherlands with your ID card only, but it is highly recommended to have your passport with you. If you are travelling from any other country you need a valid passport.
